The online course, "Diversity in Content Writing," illustrates how to identify and avoid language bias by analyzing real case studies of agencies that have fallen victim to bias. Every lesson shows alternate ways to write objectively. Although we cannot control people's (mis)interpretations of
our writing, we can ensure that it meets current standards of decency when referencing race, sex, gender, orientation, age, medical condition or disability. This self-paced class is delivered completely online and does not require attendance in a physical location. The course is offered all year round without date or clock time restrictions. However, participants receive 90 days of access to complete the course after registration. In order to receive a certificate, all lessons must be completed at 100% before the course expires in three (3) months after registration.

Ashan R. Hampton is currently the Distance Education Coordinator for Arkansas Adult Education after serving as an English instructor in higher education for over 20 years. Ashan proudly cherishes the distinction of being the first Black female graduate of the Donaghey Scholars Program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, under the direction of Dr. C. Earl Ramsey, Emeritus. As of August 2024, Ashan is working toward her Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Adult Education through Capella University. Outside of academics, Ashan worked for short stints as a technical writer, website designer, digital content coordinator, proofreader, and legal editor. She is also a self-published author who has released multiple books on a variety of writing topics, now available on Amazon, Lulu, and other popular booksellers.
